My Work

Helping you maximise your web presence

I really enjoy working for small businesses and startups: fresh ideas and new directions can be very inspiring. So if you're planning a new web project I'd be happy to talk about your needs and how we can work together to create a great website that your users will love.

And if your business needs a logo, then I can design one for you. Business cards, letterhead paper - no problem. My clients benefit from my wide range of skills, and together we can use my web expertise and design skills to solve a number of issues!

Whether you need a simple website to promote your business, or a fully fledged eCommerce solution for online selling, I have the experience that can help you achieve your goals.

Working with your team

I also have the skills to work on large-scale projects as part of a team. Although I'm a bit of a generalist, my main skills are centered around the browser and the user: from website planning and graphic design, through to frontend construction using clean HTML/CSS/Javascript. If Flash is required then I can use it, but I prefer to keep it to a minimum these days.

I can code basic PHP and have worked alongside ASP.NET developers to integrate my designs with their code. I can create original web layouts, or follow existing brand guidelines and conceptual designs if needed. My designs are clean and simple, and I always try to put the needs of the user first.

Experience

I have 10 years experience working on a variety of web-based projects, using my graphic design skills and web expertise to craft clean, usable websites. I've worked for agencies in New Zealand and the UK but have enjoyed being self-employed since 2006.

Throughout my career I've been involved with projects for big brands like Honda, Toyota, Manchester United, Kathmandu, Mary McCartney, and The British Olympic Association.
(OK, that's enough name-dropping... you can see project examples here).

Awards

The Bonneville400 site that I built for Honda F1 won Best Creative Innovation Online in the APA Creative Awards 2007.

Sevenoaks Custom Install site was shortlisted for the APA Creative Awards in 2008.

About Mike

Originally from New Zealand, I'm based mostly in London these days. I love to travel, and seem to be spending quite a bit of time in South America lately. When I'm not making websites I enjoy playing football and snowboarding.
Oh, and I'm a Sagittarius.
